Painting is a product of the mind more than a product of the physical
self. Without the thought process we would have no art to look at. Though
we might lose a hand we can paint with another part of the body - the
important thing is that the brain still functions and finds a way for
thoughts to express themselves.
To me all artistic expression
is abstract. Magritte once famously produced the painting of a pipe
entitled 'Ceci n'est pas une pipe' (This is not a pipe) and he was right.
It was a picture of a pipe, not the pipe itself. Some may think this
is merely wordplay but when you apply it to the images produced by an
artist it is clear to see it covers everything they paint or draw.
On
this website you will find three sections of 'abstract' work and another
of 'figurative' landscapes.
